What inspires your style?
I find my inspiration in many things, most of which is the art of other talented visionaries. I love fashion and find great inspiration from a designer's color combination and use of fabrics. I enjoy seeing the intricate details of a dress, and turning around and integrating that into the design of window treatments or a piece of furniture. I also find inspiration from my client's personalities. Each individual's desires and dreams can be a source for inspiring thoughts. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my clients so I can find a way to design a room that represents the many facets of their personality and individuality.
What are your design philosophies?
I believe design is an expression of people and their surroundings. An artist will create a work of art based on their experiences in life and their emotions. As an interior designer, it is my job to be my client's artist. My work is always based on my client's life and who they are and how they experience life. This is why I feel it is so important to spend time getting to know my clients. Through observations and interviews, I compile the most unique characteristics of my clients and from there I create a piece of art, their space, which is a representation of their personality and needs.
What is your professional experience?
My background includes a wide array of experiences. I started studying interior design and art in high school. In college, I decided to pursue psychology, as my interest in people and their personalities peaked my interest. I also obtained a minor in fine arts during my undergrad. After I finished my Bachelor's degree, I found myself hunting for the perfect outlet of my interests in working with people and creating art. Eventually, I ended up in this awesome career as an interior designer. Along the way, I've had the opportunity to work in the real estate industry, which taught me a lot about the presentations of a home and how to improve a property's market value. I also worked in new home construction, which gave me great experience with working with contractors, deadlines, organizing home selections, and staging model homes. Since entering the interior design industry I've been able to work with many clients in creating their dream spaces. I've had the opportunity to work in the furniture industry designing custom upholstery and learning about furniture construction. I've helped clients by designing custom window treatments, color analysis, accessorizing, and space planning. At this point, my professional experience has been a collage of many opportunities, which have given me the necessary tools to be a creative, client-driven designer.
